I have three springer at the moment. My three year old bitch and two of her pups im doing a bit with at the moment. One of the pups is destined for the UK in about four weeks and that will leave me with 2. i'l hunt over my three year old bitch this season and for next season I will have the other pup finished off and fully trained to a top quality standard.

Then i will probably buy a pup next spring for training the following year.

Ive got two springers. A dog with one season behind him. Big (as big a springer I have ever seen) strong dog will be 2years old on Nov the 1st Is all field trial breeding up to his grandparents. However he looks and works like and old style springer..will go all day long on pheasant duck and woodcock. I also have a 13 month old bitch who hasnt been shot over yet. She is fully trial bred out of birdrowe lines. shes keen and a brilliant retriever but it will be interesting to see how she gets on. I have a feeling if I bred the two dogs down the line I would have the perfect dog for me. The ground I shoot is really testing and I find the springers unbeatable all round dog. However if I had the time I would like to train a cocker and see how it would go. Had one before...great characters those cockers

Beautiful dogs Hartman, esp the first one. Do you find them to be hard maintenance with looking after their coat?

Thanks

In fairness they are very clean in looking after themselves, The moulting is pretty bad as its generally brought on by the weather and with the temperatures being so up and down they arent really following a proper moulting schedule (both should really moult in around the same time)

A good brush even once a week sorts them out, remarkable animals and are so far away from other breeds they are unlike dogs at all sometimes
